Principal Update - April 17, 2025
Dear Families,
Thank you for supporting another great week of learning at John Young Elementary School. A highlight this week was a visit from a group of educators from the Bavaria region of Germany. This group visited AY Jackson this morning and then walked over to John Young to learn about our school and about our school system. They got to interact with many students, see our site, and enjoyed observing students learning many things including ukulele! A big thank you to EF56A and EF6A (Mme Woodward and Ms Ross’ classes) for making some beautiful greeting cards to welcome our visitors.
Spirit Day
On Friday, April 25, we will be having RETRO DAY. Show your school spirit by dressing up like you're from another time! Wear an outfit from your favourite decade (60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s...). It'll be groovy, it'll be radical, it'll be far out!
Earth Week Project Updates
Next week is Earth Week! Students and families can support our Adopt-A-Hive Project by sending in a small donation in any day next week. Thank you for helping us support the important work of pollinators in our environment by helping us to adopt a hive! We are looking forward to our visit from Aliana Mundy, the president of Eastern Ontario Beekeepers Association (EOBA), to talk with students about the importance of bees in our society. You can learn more by visiting www.polkadotwheelbarrow.com
