Autism Awareness and Acceptance Month

April is Autism Awareness Month with Ribbon

April is Autism Awareness and Acceptance Month and World Autism Day was celebrated on April 2nd. This is a vital time to raise awareness about Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and to promote a deeper understanding of the diverse experiences of individuals with autism.  Throughout the month, around John Young you’ll see various bulletin boards and signs showcasing:

  • A Strength Wall, where students can share their unique talents and interests
  • Neurodivergent Role Models (featuring famous and successful individuals with autism)
  • Facts and Quotes about autism

Additionally, R5A will be creating PSA posters highlighting facts about autism and ways to be more inclusive. They'll also share a fact, misconception, or strategy for inclusion during the daily announcements each day in April.  A big thank you to the R5A class and their educators for their leadership with this.
