Cupcakes for Kindness, Pink Shirt Day, and Toonie Tuesday

Cupcakes for Kindness, Pink Shirt Day, and Toonie Tuesday
Thank you to all of our families for their support of our Food Drive earlier this month. We continue to recognize February as Kindness Month and will be extending our kindness in many ways for the remainder of the month.
On Tuesday, February 25, across the OCDSB, students and staff will be encouraged to bring in donations to support the Education Foundation for the annual Toonie Tuesday fundraiser. The Education Foundation is an independent charitable arm of the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board. They exist to support students in the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board who are vulnerable to the effects of poverty. John Young students are encouraged to bring a toonie or any other amount to help support this important work in our community.
On Wednesday, February 26, students and staff at John Young will be recognizing Pink Shirt Day. Everyone is invited to where a pink shirt to show their commitment to creating a more kind and inclusive world.
Also on Wednesday, February 26, all students will have the opportunity to enjoy a cupcake made by staff and/or parents/caregivers as part of Cupcakes for Kindness. We will ensure that everyone who wants to participate, receives a cupcake and in exchange, are asking students to bring a small monetary donation. This is a dual fundraiser for the Canadian Cancer Society and the Education Foundation. If you are interested in baking some cupcakes please email jeannie.wardrop@ocdsb.ca. We are grateful for the KINDNESS of our school community!
