Literacy Learning Update #8
Literacy Learning - Home Connections
This week we are talking about establishing a reading routine. Reading is an important daily habit to establish at home, even if it’s just for 15 minutes. Having a designated reading space that is comfortable and inviting allows children to relax and enjoy books with you. Engage children in discussions about the story, ask questions, and encourage them to ask their own. Rotate books regularly. Keep a variety of books available and encourage children to choose what interests them. The public library is a great free resource that is open to all families and a great way to stock up. Our closest branch of the Ottawa Public Library is the Hazeldean Branch at 50 Castlefrank Road. Happy Reading, everyone!
